Peter Kok

Peter Kok, age 63, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on April 23, 2024 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.  Peter was born on May 25, 1960 in Alkmaar, Netherlands to the late Jan Kok and Jacaboa H. Nijholt Kok.

Peter proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1987.  Peter was part of the Colt Collectors Association and received an Infinity Medallion through NA.  He enjoyed gunsmithing, leathercraft, antique firearm restorations, collecting firearms, and car restorations.  He was the founder of Facebook group, CH-47 Chronic Hooker Injuries.

Peter is survived by his son, William Kelly Pittard, of Pelzer, SC; his siblings, Hermien Kok-Manos (Troy C. Manos), of Wyoming, MI, and Gerda Kok, of Matthews, NC.  He is also survived Nieces and Nephews, Viola E. Manos, of Wyoming, MI, Frans Kok (Indri Kok), of Netherlands, Shanti Kok, Thomas Kok. And his close friends Ed Funkerburk, Chris Elmaren, and Troy Barncord. Pete had so many friends it would be impossible to list them all.

Pete lived and breathed CH-47 Chinook Helicopters; he commonly referred to them in his daily speech.  He referred to his friends (Chris, Ed, and Troy) as the three rotor blades on the forward pylon that kept him flying.  He believes wholeheartedly in the Narcotics Anonymous (NA) program and his many friends and sponsors that kept him on the path.  In turn, he mentored others and ensured their sobriety.  Pete’s “Red X” status was signed off by God, April 23, 2024, after his holding pattern, he is now flying high with the Lord.

A memorial service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 in Black Mountain, NC on May 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
