Phillip James Mullen

Phillip James Mullen, 81, of Fairview passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his home with his daughter by his side. Born December 26, 1937 in Norfolk, VA, he was a son of the late Michael and Alice Mullen. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his children, Dorothy Dee Mullen, David Mullen, and James Mullen; grandchildren, Jason Mullen, Brian Burleson, and Brandon Brockwell; and the mother of his children, Oie Mullen. Surviving is his daughter, Phyllis Gillen; grandchildren, Scotty, Brooke, Joshua, Amanda, April, Johnny, Amy, and Tinette; and several great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
