Rebecca “Gail” Garren Lanning of Fletcher, North Carolina, passed March 31, 2021, at her brother’s home. She was sixty-two.
Gail was born May 11, 1958, to Mary Elizabeth Calton and Fred William Garren, in Henderson County, North Carolina. She graduated from West Henderson High School, and worked with the Eaton Corporation. Gail was an active member of Fletcher First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends, volunteering with her church and working with flowers.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents; by her spouse, Foy Lanning; and a brother, Lloyd Garren.
She is survived by a brother, Osburne David Garren and his wife, Vickie S. Garren, of Mills River, North Carolina; niece Kristi Garren and her children Jacob, Jadyn and Jordyn, nephew Rick and his wife Trisha Garren and their children Darian, Brady, Hunter, Dominic, Danica and Magnolia; nephew Keith and wife Shannon Garren and their children Kayla and Emilee, nephew Kevin Garren, and niece Kacee Garren and her daughter Kimber.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Gail’s remembrance at one o’clock the afternoon of Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Fletcher First Baptist Church, Fletcher, North Carolina. Pastors Ray Waldroup, David Gentry and Gunne Davis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons through Fletcher First Baptist Church. A special thanks to the family and friends who visited and cared for Gail and to Hospice Care of Transylvania County.
