Robert Lee Cann Jr.

Robert Lee Cann Jr., age 75, of Burnsville, NC passed away on August 26, 2025 in Asheville, NC. Robert was born in Somerville, NJ on June 7, 1950 to the late Robert Lee Cann Sr. and Jessica Ellen Cann. Robert graduated from Greene Central High School in 1969. Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy as a diver. He was employed in the Navy reserves out of Charleston, SC and also as an engineering construction inspector for Dunn Engineers, Inc.

Robert is preceded in death by his aunt, Thora Golz, and his uncle, Joe Golz. Robert is survived by his loving spouse of 54 years, Margaret M. Cann. He is also survived by his children, Sean Robert Cann (Fiona Louise Cann), of Fort William, Scotland and Erin Marie Hardie (Robert Scott Hardin), of Chapin, SC; his siblings, Melora Cann, of Pinch, WV, Jessica Ellen Hypes (Wayne Hypes), of Elkview, WV; his grandchildren, Mariah Rae Sewell, of FL, Connor William Robert Cann, William Alexander Stewart Cann, Sean Troy Christopher Cann, and Shammon Sha Shan’teal Cann, all of Fort William, Scotland, Maximus David Hunter Cann, Serenity Annaheta Louise Cann, and Maggie Lillian Hardie, Breanna Marie Hardie, and Robert Lee Hardie, all of Chapin, SC.

A memorial service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery on September 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Father Winkle officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to an Alzheimer / Dementia group/organization. In honor of Robert, please watch a John Wayne movie.
