Robert "Mike" Waddell

Robert “Mike” Waddell, age 69, of Asheville, NC passed away on August 12, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.  Robert was born in Asheville, NC on September 28, 1955 to the late Claude Waddell and Clara Smathers.

Robert was a graduate of Erwin High School.  He was employed through Ingles Markets as a Produce Manager.  Robert was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan and he loved his little dog, Carolina.

Robert is survived by his loving spouse of 28 years, Kathie Waddell; his daughter, Kelly Waddell, of Asheville, NC; step-children, Chrysta Burris (Vincent), of Asheville, NC, Brandi Henson (Todd), of Asheville, NC, and Heather O’Connor (Matt), of Greenville, SC; his siblings, Steve McElreath and Marcia Little; his grandchildren, Aysia Keeter, Levyn Littlejohn, Hayley Kilpatrick (Justin), Hannah Wilson (Trey), Grayson Henson, Colby Henson (Brianna), Avery Henson, Aiden O’Connor, Isabella O’Connor, Emily Eddins (Hunter), and Brady O’Connor; and great-grandchildren, Kai Moore, Nala Moore, Maikah Moore, Kinsley Henson, Bowen Henson, and Riley Kilpatrick.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 3 PM at Glory Tabernacle (1221 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville, NC 28803).  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3 PM.
