Robert Lee Welty

Robert Lee Welty, age 82, of Candler, NC passed away on September 24th, 2025 in Asheville, NC.  Robert was born on March 8th, 1943 in Alliance, OH to the late Earl Welty and Mary Ludlam Welty.

Robert was a high school graduate.  He was in the National Guard Reserves and was also a retired supervisor with Kyocera Manufacturing. He held a Florida State title in track and field in the 1960’s.  He loved woodworking, dancing, walking, and porch sitting to enjoy nature and the neighbors.

Robert is preceded in death by two of his children, Monique Louise Welty and Robert Lee Welty II.  He is survived by his loving spouse of 26 years, Geneva Riddle Welty; his children, Brandy Branscum (Daniel Branscum), of Fletcher, NC, Gretchen Anderson, of Candler, NC, and Greta Burns (Eric Burns), of Candler, NC; his siblings, Norma Moore, Jan Lamca, Diana Miller, and Kenny Welty; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Sigmon (Blake Sigmon), Holly Stepp (Taylor Stepp), Little Daniel Branscum, Samantha Anderson, Bryant Anderson, Caroline Childers, Maddie Burns, and Blake Burns, all of Candler, NC, Brent Welty, Robert Welty, and Megan Welty; and his great-grandchildren, Farrah Sigmon, Remi Step, Wesson Step, Melody Welty, Aidan Norwood, Raeleigh Norwood, Haley Welty, Bryson Welty, William Childers, Jaden Welty and Henry Childers.

A memorial service will be held at Maple Ridge Baptist Church on October 7th, 2025 at 6 PM.  Josh Dehart will officiate the memorial service.
