Sonnie Perkins Obituary

Sonnie Joseph Perkins of Etowah, North Carolina, passed September 28, 2023, at the age of ninety. Sonnie was born to the late Chester W. Perkins and C. Elsie Grover June 8, 1933, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Sonnie graduated from University of Colorado-Boulder. He served in the United States Air Force between 1951 and 1954, and worked as an architectural engineer. Sonnie enjoyed golfing.

In addition to his parents, Sonnie was preceded in death by his brother, Chester W. Perkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Rainboldt and her spouse, James, of Etowah, North Carolina; grandchildren, Rebecca Cook of Brevard, North Carolina, Jessica Green of Los Angeles, California, Andrew Rainboldt of Athens, Greece, Melissa Rainboldt of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Joshua Rainboldt of Lynnwood, Washington; and 10 great grandchildren Charlotte, Leifton,and Asa Cook, Margaret Green, Wesley Green, Odette Green , Jude Rainboldt, and Evan, Kyle and Cara Finchun.

A service will be held in Sonnie’s honor in the Summer of 2024.
