Stanley Valentino Vera Cruz

Stanley Valentino Vera Cruz of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed September 1, 2023. Born January 26, 1936, to the late Margaret and Nicholas Vera Cruz, Sr., in Koloa, Hawaii, Stanley was eighty-seven.

            Before moving to Hendersonville, Stanley was a resident of Hanapepe and Kalaheo, Hawaii, Columbus, North Carolina, and Gainesville, Florida. He graduated from Hawaiian Mission Academy in Honolulu and Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He served in the United States Army and worked as an educator. Stanley was a devout member of the Mills River Seventh-day Adventist Church and was focused on spiritual growth. He valued time spent with family and friends, and enjoyed travelling.

            In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Lois Vera Cruz, and a brother and two sisters.

            He is survived by his children, Valen Vera Cruz (Malinda) of Hendersonville, Kathie Ludwig (Josef) of Fletcher, North Carolina and Shari Vera Cruz of Hendersonville; a sister and brother; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

            A service will be held at three o’clock the afternoon of October 21, 2023 at Hendersonville Seventh-day Adventist Church (2301 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville). Pastor Cory Reeves will officiate.
