Stephen Lee Gibson, of Arden, North Carolina, passed May 7, 2021. He was seventy-two.
Steve was born to the late Helen Rainwater and Robert E. Gibson in Asheville on April 3, 1949. He graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School, then AB Technical Community College. Steve was honored to serve his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from contractor sales with Johnson Chamley Lumber and Malta Windows. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, a fisherman and a bowler. Steve was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving Steve is Connie Watkins Gibson, his partner of forty-three years; his daughter, Angela Sprinkle (Tammy) of St. Petersburg, Florida; brother, Michael Gibson (Claudia “Tinker”) of Apopka, Florida, and sister, Brenda Gibson of Black Mountain, North Carolina; and nieces Julie Lounsburry (Nick) of Davenport, Florida, and Brittany Gibson of Durham, North Carolina.
A service will be held to honor Steve at two o’clock the afternoon of Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Chaplin Brett Baddorf will officiate.
