Thomas W. Tenbrunsel

Thomas W. Tenbrunsel passed away at age 83 at his home in Weaverville, NC on Thursday January 22, 2026, with his family.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; his son Kevin and wife Kerri of Chicago, IL, and their children Lauren and Kaitlin; his son Brian and wife Laura of Chapin, SC, and their children Will, Jack, and Nick (wife Blakely); his daughter Erin and husband Jimmy and their children Jay, Tommy, and Annie; his sister Ann Geist of Nashville, TN; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Tom was born June 3, 1942 in Nashville, TN of Jerome and Elizabeth Tenbrunsel.  Tom and Shirley took their family from Palo Alto CA to St. Louis MO to Cincinnati OH to Okemos MI to Huntsville AL before making their final residence here in Weaverville NC.  Tom has a Bachelors Degree from Bellarmine University, and a Masters and a PHD from St. Louis University.  He was a Professor, worked in Health Care administration, worked at the Development Fund at Michigan State University, was VP of Development/Fundraising at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and finished his career as a practicing Psychologist.  He was a coach, an author, a poet, a biker, a gardener, a skier, an outdoorsman, a musician, a friend, a brother, a grandfather, a husband, a father, and a Child of God.  Tom's Funeral Service will be this Friday January 30, 2026 at St. Eugene Catholic Church at 2pm at 72 Culvern St  Asheville, NC 28804.
