Thomas Ransom Wilson

Thomas Ransom Wilson of Canton, North Carolina, passed Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was sixty-four. 

Thomas was born April 6, 1957, to the late Sabra Melburn Thompson and Ivan Jakey Wilson in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was a longtime resident of Asheville, having graduated with the Asheville High School class of 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University, graduating in 1979. Thomas owned Wilson Engineering, and he loved encouraging his granddaughters' curiosity about science. He also enjoyed auto racing, camping, scouting soccer, dancing tango and travel. 

Thomas is survived by his children, Ivan Wilson (Courtenay Gilmore Wilson) of Asheville, and Daphne Wilson of Monroe, North Carolina; sisters, Elizabeth Wilson Bowers (Gary Bowers) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary Wilson Kitts (Alan Kitts) of Whitsett, North Carolina, and Jeanne Wilson Holliday (John Holliday) of Cary, North Carolina; granddaughters, Grace Wilson (nine) of Monroe, North Carolina, and Madeline Kate Wilson (eight) and Courtenay Jane Wilson (three) both of Asheville; six nieces and nephews; and five grandnieces and grandnephews. 

With respect to the overwhelm faced by hospitals at this time, no services will be held at present. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to United Way of Haywood County to aid in flood recovery.
