Virginia Lee “Ginger” Speier, 77, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away, Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.
Ginger was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late George William Dorfler and Ida Virginia Freedy. She was married to her husband of 38 years, Fred Speier. Ginger was of Episcopal faith and was a florist at the Biltmore Estate. Dancing and floral arranging were her passions. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Dorfler and Patricia Smith; a brother, Bill Dorfler, a grandson, R.J. Bieszczak; and a brother in law, Philip N. Speier.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Fred Speier of Asheville; a son, Randy Bieszczak; a daughter, Sandra Ozlen, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two sisters, Carol Smith of Sunset Beach, North Carolina and Ian Florian-Prescott of Hillsborough, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Madison, and Annamarie; a great granddaughter, Gianna Marie, all of Ft. Lauderdale; five brothers in law, John Speier of Ft. Lauderdale, Terry Smith of Sunset Beach, and Jack Metzger of Weaverville, NC, Charles Mohi, Sr., and Andrew Prescott of Hillsborough; three sisters in law, Lynn Townsend of Ft. Lauderdale, Jan Mohi of Ft. Lauderdale, and Katie Metzger of Weaverville; and nine nephews, Colin and Tyler Townsend, Charles and Grant Mohi, Philip and William Speier, and Alex Florian Prescott of Hillsborough, and Michael and Timothy Smith of Supply, North Carolina.
