Walter Earle Hitt

Walter Earle Hitt, age 94, of Fletcher, NC passed away on July 8, 2025 in Asheville, NC. Walter was born on July 11, 1930 to the late Emily Florence Hitt and Lewis Hitt. Walter previously resided in many places including: Greenfield, MA, Springfield, MA, South Hadley, MA, Vergennes, VT, Bennington, VT, and Clyde, NC.

Walter served our country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Throughout his life, Walter enjoyed his God, his family, people, Bible teaching, puzzles, stained glass, trains, and inventing.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Irene Marie Hitt, of Fletcher, NC. Walter is survived by his daughters, Debra Gramkow, of Hendersonville, NC and her husband David Gramkow, Marita Sehl, New Port Richey, FL and her husband Grant Sehl; son, Timothy Hitt, of Cambridge, NY. Walter is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan Sehl, of Land O Lakes, FL, Justin Sehl, of Homosassa, FL, Jacklyn Sehl Wheeler, of New Port Richey, FL, Brittney Sehl Leon, of New Port Richey, FL, Stephanie Sehl Youmans, of New Port Richey, FL, Zachary Hitt, of Whitingham, VT, Curtis Hitt, of Knoxville, TN, Tiffany Hitt Baniak, of Arlington, VT, Kassidy Hitt, of Rexford, NY, Kealan Hitt, of Shaftsburg, VT, and and their mates; and 19 great-grandchildren.
