Wayne Parks Edwards

Wayne Parks Edwards of Leicester, North Carolina, passed May 14, 2023. Born October 3, 1936, to the late Myldred P. Edwards and Charles Plato Edwards in Asheville, North Carolina, Wayne was eighty-six.

            Wayne graduated with the Lee H. Edwards High School Class of 1955, and from Daytona Beach Junior College’s woodworking program in January of 1968. He served in the United States Navy, and worked as a Bosun’s Mate. Before moving to Leicester, Wayne was a resident of Daytona Beach, Florida, where he and his wife owned and operated Kay’s Draperies for 30 years. He was a gardener and continued to enjoy woodworking.

            In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mazie K. Edwards; two brothers, William H. Edwards and Charles R. Edwards; and a son, Stuart W. Edwards.

            Wayne is survived by children, Dorinda Lynn Bubba (John) of Leicester, Lisa K. Edwards (George) of Middleburg, Florida, Douglas P. Edwards (Amy) of Clayton, North Carolina, Chris S. Moore of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, Michael Lapp, Kristina Dockery, Brian J. Bubba, Katie Edwards, Erica Moore, Monica Edwards and Christopher Lapp; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Dockery and Ember Bradley. Wayne loved his daughter’s three dogs, Buddy, Ivy and Teddy Bear.
