William (Bill) Burton Terrell, 74, of Candler, NC passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on April 25, 2024. Bill was born in Asheville, NC and graduated from Enka High School in 1968. He was in his element when surrounded by friends and family, and always the life of any party. He was quick to give friends and loved ones a nickname and often picked up a nickname in return, ie. Son, Lamb, Tilly, Willy, Dad, Daddy Bill, Papaw, Pappy, Wild Bill, Big Poppa, Bubba, Terrelly, Junior, Partner, Big Huggy, and Mountain Man. In his early years, he enjoyed playing softball and baseball.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Delma Martin Terrell; wife of thirty seven years, Reva Freeman Terrell; sister, Wanda Basham, and brother in-law, Tom Laster. He is survived by his daughters, Bree Terrell (Art), Miranda Ledford (Kevin), and Kimberley Patrizio (Gordon); four grandchildren, Savannah, Jeffrey, Jax, and Avery Mae; sisters, Belinda Terrell Wells, Dessie Laster, and Yvonne Stillwell (Johnny); several brother and sister in-laws; a special nephew, who was much like a son, Kerry Putnam (Tammy) and his children, Kera and Grant; several other nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Bill worked as a Sales Consultant for several alcohol distributors in the state of NC for over forty years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his hunting brothers dearly. Over the years, he coached church softball, assisted in sponsored golf and fishing tournaments, was a founding member of the The Great Smoky Mountains Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He found a special friendship with Pastor Louis Gibson, and was a member of the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Blue Ridge Cowboy Church, PO Box 363, Fairview, NC. A celebration of life will be held at the Cowboy Church on Saturday, May 11 at 1 PM, officiated by Pastor Louis Gibson. Bill was loved by many and his infectious smile and laughter will forever be missed by those who loved him.
