Harold Cameron (Hal) Davis, 81 of Asheville, NC passed peacefully on April 9, 2017. Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife, Patricia E. (Werle) Davis; his two daughters Jacqueline Gulino and her husband, Dan, of Mendham, NJ, and Laurie Conley and her husband, Brian, of Columbia, MD. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Davis was born on July 27, 1935 in Saskatchewan, Canada. After high school he graduated with honors from The University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelors in Physics. He also was in The Canadian Royal Officers Training Plan.

After graduation from college, Hal was transferred by the Canadian Air Force to a radar station in New Brunswick, Canada, followed by a one-year course in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He was then given a division in Los Angeles, followed by an exchange transfer to US Air Force at Space Systems at the Pentagon. 

After the three-year obligation required by the Royal Officers Training Program, he was honorably discharged from the Canadian Armed Forces.  Hal was granted permanent residence status and then U.S. citizenship, and was employed by Rockwell International.  His work required him to travel extensively in North America, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.  Hal worked both worked and lived with his family in Irvine, CA; Dallas, TX; Cedar Rapids, IA; Toronto, Canada; and Rochester, NY.  

Hal and friends formed a small mobile radio company after leaving Rockwell, and also worked for Fidelity Investments in Boston and Connecticut.  Following retirement, Hal and his wife moved to Asheville, NC.

In Asheville, Hal was a member of a committee formed to raise money to build the Center for Creative Retirement, subsequently named the Reuter Center, a division of OLLI.  He was an active member, taking classes and teaching a class on Canada.  Hal also sang with the Reuter Center Singers.  Hal and his wife traveled extensively in Canada and Europe, and spent three summers house-sitting in the south of France.  Hal was also an avid skier and golfer.
